Career Overview | Erik Rueter (PMP, PMI)
Erik has worked for technology startups, colleges and universities, a Grammy®
award-winning manufacturing company, and healthcare organizations. He has been a
public policy analyst, professional photographer, marketing and public relations director
and, currently, as a senior project manager at the American Marketing Association. He has
co-authored two papers on health disparities in oncology nursing, has lectured at Boston
and Emerson Colleges, and has been a guest speaker on diversity and inclusion at
Medtronic, VSP, the San Antonio Spurs, and the PMI Global Summit, among others. His
educational background is as diverse as his professional background, with a degree in
neuroscience, university-level diplomas in digital design and Irish studies, and most
recently, MicroMasters in design thinking and project management through Rochester
Institute of Technology and certification in diversity and inclusion from eCornell.
Participants will learn about creating a safe space for team members, using human-centered design, promoting diversity, and tackling challenges in implementing human-centered design methodologies.
